About Los Niños - A unique cultural and educational afterschool program that empowers children to transform their own lives.

Niños con Bendición was created in 2006 by Lesbi Chavez and her husband Juventino Guaran so children from economically impoverished families in San Antonio Aguas Calientes could receive a quality education and strengthen their cultural and family ties.   Children in the program attend school, study together, learn Mayan and Guatemalan folk dance, take music lessons, and share meals.

  Support for the group comes from yearly school sponsorships, calendar sales, entrance fees from dance performances, and other fund raising endeavors. 100% of all donations and profits from the sale of goods goes directly into the children's general fund.

Many people from a diverse set of backgrounds volunteer their time to Los Niños. Nancy Hoffman, in Guatemala, supports the group with English translations and as an organizer for their scholarship program in conjunction with "Friends of Los Ninos" and "Her Star Scholars," both based in the U.S. (501c3 status)

The calendar shows the children of Niños con Bendición in traditional clothing from across Guatemala.

Calendars are 8 1/2 in. by 11 in. full color on card stock and spiral bound.
Days and months are printed in English and Spanish with Mayan glyphs from the long count calendar

100% of the profits from calendar sales supports the children of San Antonio Aguas Calientes pictured in the calendar. The sale of the calendar is one way we raise money to pay for school fees, uniforms, school books and supplies, a hot meal every day and more.

How You Can Help

Sponsor a child to go to school: For yearly sponsorship, the specific sponsor (or sponsoring groups) are matched with a specific child and receives regular communication about the child - emails, photos and school updates. Ideally, sponsors support the child in an on-going way, to ensure that children complete their schooling. Sponsorship can be made yearly or quarterly via personal check, bank transfer, credit card or PayPal. Current cost of US$300. covers yearly school fees, books, supplies and uniforms. We are now seeking 2 sponsors per child - one to cover these school costs and the second to cover food, medical, and personal care needs.

Make a Donation (you can designate the fund when you make the donation):

To the children's general fund -- 100% of all donations cover day-to-day expenses for the children, such as meals, extra school supplies, medical costs, clothing, music lessons, and more.   

To the children's emergency medical fund -- this year we had 2 children with dire medical needs. Their families did not have the means to pay their medical bills. We have created an emergency medical fund for such situations.
