History: The group was created in 2006 by Lesbi Chavez and her husband, Juventino Guaran, so that children from economically impoverished families in San Antonio Aguas Calientes could receive a quality education and strengthen their cultural and family ties.

Children in the program attend school, study together, learn Mayan and Guatemalan folk dance, take music lessons, learn English, practice computer skills, and share meals.

Support for the group comes from yearly school sponsorships, calendar and CD sales, entrance fees from dance performances, and other fundraising endeavors. 100% of all donations and profits from the sale of goods goes directly to Lesbi and Juventino who direct the program in Guatemala. All proceeds go into the program's general fund.
How You Can Help

Sponsor a child to go to school: For yearly sponsorship, the specific sponsor (or sponsoring groups) are matched with a specific child and receives regular communication about the child -- emails, photos and school updates. Ideally, sponsors support the child in an on-going way, to ensure that children complete their schooling. Sponsorship payments can be made yearly or quarterly via personal check or bank transfer. Current cost of U.S. $375 covers yearly school fees, books, supplies and uniforms for children in primary grades. Secondary education is more expensive. We are now seeking 2 sponsors per child -- one to cover school enrollment fees and the second to cover some of the program costs, such as food, medical, and personal care needs.

Make a Donation to the children's general fund. 100% of donations and profits directly supports the children, augmenting the sponsorships to meet day-to-day expenses, such as meals, medical costs, extra school supplies, clothing, music lessons, and more.
